Principal

Brad Walker

I am incredibly proud to serve as the principal of Gus Almquist Middle School and to work in Hutto ISD. I am grateful for the opportunity  to serve a community of students and families where I also live. At Gus Almquist, we will strive for excellence in both academics and character, while supporting teachers to maximize their potential. We will work every day to help every student reach their full potential by creating a supportive, engaging environment where students grow as learners, leaders, and responsible citizens, and where a love of learning lasts a lifetime. We will also emphasize building strong relationships with students, teachers and families.

A  Little About Me
This is my 12th year in education, and all of my teaching and administrative experience comes from Round Rock ISD. Most recently, I served as an Assistant Principal at Westwood High School, where I focused on building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and helping students succeed academically and personally. These experiences have shaped my belief that high expectations, consistency, and genuine care for students are important to a successful school community.

My wife and I have been married for almost 15 years, and she is also an educator, serving as a private school principal. Together, we are raising three amazing children: Trey (11), Brooklyn (8), and Zoey (6). As both an educator and a parent, I understand the trust families place in schools, and I am committed to ensuring Gus Almquist Middle School is a place where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired every day. In my free time, I enjoy coaching my son's AAU basketball team, playing rec league basketball and spending time at the gym so that I can be in the best shape possible, in case a student challenges me to a game of one on one.

I look forward to the future ahead and working closely with our students, families and staff.
